Today’s lesson will focus on reviewing the next essay you’ll write for this class — the rhetorical analysis essay. You’ll begin working on the essay by creating a summary of the piece you intend to analyze. You’ll use the charting worksheet to come up with the language you’ll use to accurately explain what the author is doing.

To do for homework (due Wednesday by class time):
- Reread (or rewatch) the text you will use for your rhetorical analysis essay.
- If you have not, complete (for your own use) a rhetorical situation worksheet for that video or essay.
- Complete the charting worksheet for at least five aspects of the text.
- Using the rhetorical situation worksheet, the charting worksheet, and your knowledge of summary, write a 1-page single-spaced summary (500 words) of the text. Use this MLA Template, but adjust the spacing so that it’s single spaced (to save paper, mostly).
Bring four hard copies of the summary to class on Wednesday, October 13.
